Montgó Residents’ Association – 2026 AGM Report
What an encouragingly large turn-out we had yesterday at the AGM in the Casa de Cultura – nearly 80. The Committee really appreciates your interest and support.
The Alcaldesa, Rosa Cardona, attended the first half hour in-between her other important meetings, during which some of our concerns were raised and answered by Raquel, on her behalf. These covered in particular roads, lighting, basura, dead pines etc. The Town Hall is sympathetic, but there are financial and procedural constraints and patience is always advised… Raquel will send us the full answers, to be published later.
Terry Curran, Comandante of the Balcón al Mar Voluntarios, was invited to the meeting to accept a cheque for €2,287 [the ‘odd’ amount being donations received for the calendar]. President, Tim Fawle, thanked him and his team for the excellent work they do in keeping Jávea safe.
He then gave a brief report of what the new Committee has achieved since September 2025 and future plans. Likewise, Vice-President Simon van der Brekel explained how we are aiming at better communications with members. Kees Koot submitted a short overview of our healthy financial situation, followed by Heather Franklin’s up-date on membership. Finally, Ellie Sales, on behalf of Gerrie Ruijs, Social Secretary, outlined the recent past events and those planned for this year, which are on the calendar.
El Convent provided a delicious meal for the 35 members who stayed for lunch.
