Visit to El Sueño Botanical Gardens

A special visit to the beautiful El Sueño Botanical Gardens in Ondara took place on Friday 19 June.

Our members enjoyed a guided tour of these unique gardens, led by the owners, who shared the story behind their creation and their passion for plants. The tour took place in two groups, with a break for coffee, tea and refreshments, followed by a drink together at the end.

It is really a beautiful place where a couple started the garden 23 years ago after first clearing an old orange farm. They made it into something special, and did it with so much love and passion. If you wonder why your plants do not grow like you would like them to, we learned that we need to give the plants what they want, and not what we want, or where we want it. We had a great tour through the garden. Some herbal tea from fourteen herbs/plants of the garden, and some great cake. The visit ended with a drink and snacks, and a visit to their museum and bodega, with homemade drinks and marmalades. We could have stayed there all day as there were still things to discover, or stories to hear, from our great guides.

Our visit to El Sueño Botanical Gardens was a great success. Members thoroughly enjoyed exploring the beautiful gardens and learning about the wide variety of Mediterranean plants.
